Grossular (Garnet)
Grossular is a member of the garnet group and it is most well-known in its transparent yellowish- green variety called “Tsavorite”. This is also the most expensive grossular garnet; discovered first in Tanzania in 1968 and the very fine grade of gems are sometimes misrepresented as emeralds because of their brightly green hue. They are not found in large sizes for the most part, and so the smaller 1 to 5 carat weights may cost from $60-$300 per carat and for 5-10 carat weight the price is about $200-$600 per carat.
