Pyrope is a member of the garnet group and it is found throughout the world, with some of the finest grade pyropes arriving from South Africa and Arizona . It's a cheap, affordable red gem, utterly clear and often misrepresented as ruby to the unsuspecting. It should cost about $10-$60 per carat for anything smaller than 5 carat weight gems and about $25-$150 per carat for 5-20 carat gems. Like all gems, the more brilliantly red it is the more it will cost.
